Installation Supervisor / Commissioning Expert

Founded in 1988, CEL focuses its activities on the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of custom-built facilities for aircraft engine testing. Our product and service offering ranges from component test benches (pumps, injectors, etc.) to the delivery of complete installations for the international market.

Reporting to the Director of Projects and Production, the Installation Supervisor / Commissioning Expert will be responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and supervision of work teams and/or contractors during installation and commissioning activities.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Work closely with technical leads (mechanical, instrumentation, software) and project managers to ensure proper installation and commissioning of products/projects. Complete all project tasks safely, technically sound, cost-effectively, and in line with schedules and budgets.

  • Act as the liaison with the project manager, client, regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and/or internal departments regarding technical, safety, and quality issues as needed.

  • Plan on-site resource needs, assist in scheduling, specification writing, contractor selection, and travel logistics.

  • Communicate daily with the client by providing updates based on the installation schedule.

  • Guide and support the team during product/project installation and commissioning.

  • Manage internal teams, subcontractors, and schedules as needed. Assess field personnel actions and stop field activities if health, safety, or quality are compromised, in line with approved plans.

  • Conduct or facilitate daily meetings with the field team and facility staff as required.

  • Ensure a safe work environment in accordance with CEL Aerospace’s health and safety specifications and protocols.

  • Review design in relation to installation planning to ensure proper execution and verify that the latest drawings are used.

  • Write and submit installation reports to management.

  • Prepare “Scope of Work” specifications for contractors.

  • Plan and support equipment commissioning.

  • Provide support to on-site teams during engine testing.

  • Apply installation and testing procedures.

  • Collaborate with technical directors and project managers to continuously improve installation quality.

Your background and strengths:

  • DEC or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering

  • Ability to present schedules and effort estimates and support planning activities

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role

  • Experience supervising personnel and contractors

  • Solid knowledge of industrial mechanical systems and fluid systems (air, hydraulics, fuel)

  • General understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills

  • This role requires a high level of mobility and flexibility. Frequent travel may be required, ranging from one week to six weeks at a time

  • Bilingual – French and English
